The Influence of Travel in Our Lives.

dinner cruise sydney harbour

There was a time when I was merely living. Waking up in the morning, heading to work, returning and then hitting the bed for the night. The cycle went on with only a slight change in the weekends and holidays which I spent mostly indoors, doing nothing worthwhile. Sooner than later, I started feeling moody, irritated and tired of this rut. I just needed a change, I even felt like giving up my job. It was just too much for me. Living the same monotonous life with no meaning. That’s when I decided to take a break and travel. A life away from my life.

Well easier said than done, travelling surely is expensive. You can solve the problem to an extent if you make sure you choose your activities wisely–something that won’t burn a hole through your pocket. To start off, I travelled to Sydney and I did something that was on my mind for ages–a dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour.  Viewing Sydney with lights and its wonders at night was extremely beautiful.  I witnessed many groups of family, friends and colleagues as I was all alone. I didn’t mind, I wanted to do this all by myself. I loved the experience so much that I also went on a lunch cruise on Sydney harbour before I left the city. Cruising on the waters facing the Harbour Bridge and Opera House was indeed a dream come true. So, that’s how I began my travel escapades and I can’t tell how much this decision has changed and rejuvenated me as a person. Here’s a sneak-peek into how travel brought a positive change to my life.

Travel recharges you

Just like a cellphone needs to be charged after its battery drains, we need to charge ourselves too. Travelling is one way to do it and restore all that lost energy. Disconnecting yourself from your familiar surroundings and your usual activities is enough to help you get back to your routine life all refreshed, beginning each day with a new zeal.

Travel is a great stress-buster

With constant work and responsibilities follow stress and anxiety. All this tension can take a toll on your health. There’s where travel proves to be a great stress-buster. Take in the fresh air as you explore different places, it will only excite you and make you smile. That itself is a great medicine for the soul & the mind and opens way to inner peace.

Learning new cultures through travel

Rather than just reading and passively learning about different cultures, the active way is to go out there and learn about it personally and practically. You can communicate with people of different backgrounds and traditions and learn a lot about them and the place they live in. Varied perspectives help in self-development. It leads you to be liberal-minded, unprejudiced and adaptable to situations & people around you.

Travelling transforms you

Last of all, you will feel totally transformed after travelling to different places, meeting new people, knowing their cultures and tasting their delicacies. Breaking free from your boring routine life and immersing yourself into something as exciting as travelling, change will be an inevitable outcome.

Travelling has completely re-moulded and changed my life for the best. I believe that each day of my life now has a new meaning. If travelling can create such wonders for me, just think what impact it can create in your life. So go on a journey and see the world in a whole new perspective. Bon voyage!

Best Points in Sydney for a Stunning Day Out

sydney harbour lunch cruise

As someone who loves to travel, I’ve always felt that it can take me out of my comfort zone and inspire me to see, taste, and try new things. If you are ready to explore new surroundings and engage with new people, I think it is high time to step out of your comfort zone and embrace meaningful experiences. For a start, I would suggest Sydney in Australia, one of the most visited cities in the world. You can find both highly explored places and some lesser appreciated locations around Sydney. So if you are interested to spend a day out in this amazing Aussie city, the list below will help you to add some of the major attractions in Sydney, to your travel itinerary.

Sydney Harbour

Sydney Harbour,  since it is home to some of the major attractions such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, is one of the popular tourist hotspots in Sydney. There are many ways to witness the glamour of Sydney Harbour in its true essence and one among them is harbour cruising. If you are someone who likes to transform a regular day into a spectacular day, you can try to spot an authentic paddlewheeler with an old-world charm offering a 3-hour Sydney Harbour lunch cruise with freshly prepared dishes by expert chefs on board. It has wrap-around verandahs and cathedral windows ensuring the prime views of the harbour and its surroundings vividly.

If you are a night person and wondering if there is a dinner package so that you can get on board and enjoy an amazing dinner out with your family on a harbour cruise, there is! The same vessel also offers a 3-hour dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour with live entertainment options. On a dinner cruise, you can enjoy harbour sightseeing and deluxe dining along with a one-hour spectacular cabaret show by a talented Australian cast. Check out Sydney Harbour and harbour cruises while in Sydney and enjoy roving harbour views with a restaurant-style dining experience. You can also level up your whole harbour cruising with drinks and beverages available from the fully licensed bar on board.

Gadyan Track

Gadyan Track, located at Berry Island, in North Sydney, is a 750m circular walk loop just a step away from the city. If you are a culture vulture or a history enthusiast, you will certainly love this destination where you can learn more about the story of rich Aboriginal culture and history. The name Gadyan is often identified as a local Aboriginal word for a shellfish called the Sydney cockle which is common on the island. There are several Aboriginal engravings on shell middens, flat rock surfaces, and large oil tanks in Greenwich. There is a large signpost in the starting point itself offering information about the path through which you are walking, the island, and its cultural and historical importance to the Aboriginal people. Because, it is believed and recorded that Cammeraygal, the original inhabitants of the land lived in the rock overhangs before the arrival of the colonisers. I promise you, there will be no other destinations in Sydney where you can learn more about the Aboriginal culture than from Gadyan Track where there remains solid evidence for the same. If you are not running out of time and can stay a bit longer, listen to the Cammeraygal stories, encounter their legends, and see how their lifestyle and practices are rooted in the culture.

Balls Head Reserve

Balls Head Reserve, located on the Waverton Peninsula facing Sydney CBD, is a 9-hectare  hidden gem, home to carefully constructed all-connected bushwalking trails. The reserve was named after Henry Lidgbird Ball, one of the commanders of the First Fleet that arrived in Botany Bay in 1788. You can just stroll around with your friends taking in the best vibes, explore the highlights along your way, or even sign up for hiking in this beautiful place. The Reserve also guarantees fantastic views of the Sydney Harbour attractions.

Spend a Night at a Zoo

Sydneysiders know that a visit to the zoo is a great day trip for the whole family, especially the Taronga Zoo, which also offers exquisite views of the harbour. But what if I told you can also stay overnight and wake up to the sounds of the wild friends? Yes, the ultimate ‘staying the night’ experience is right at your doorstep. From resort-style rooms overlooking the harbour and African-style safaris to glamping and camping experiences, you can enjoy a full wildlife experience with numerous accommodation options. If you time your visit during the later days of May or early June, then you will be in the midst of a different Sydney. The Vivid Sydney festival is an annual showcasing of the city’s creative essence through flamboyant art sculptures, light installations, engaging music concerts and thought-stimulating ideas. Deemed as every photographer’s dream, you can hone your nighttime photography skills during this festival. The festival spreads its awesomeness across the historic buildings, iconic landmarks, streets and more.
